Reynella Smallbore and Air Rifle Club
Are you interested in the exciting and ever growing sport of target shooting?
Here at RSARC we provide a safe and enjoyable environment for people young and old to enjoy the sport of target shooting. We cater for ages from 10 and up in various forms of Air and rimfire rifle disciplines.
Shooting Disciplines
The club offers several disciplines of shooting across Air and Rimfire
ISSF 10m air rifle
This is the 'ultimate' in air rifle shooting. It is shot freestanding, aiming for a 30mm target at 10 meters using a purpose built air rifle. But don't think it's easy! Shots are scored in decimal points, with the highest score being a 10.9. As little as 0.25mm off a perfect shot scores you a 10.8, and so on.
Air Supported
This is using the same air rifles as it's freestanding counterpart but the front of the rifle is supported by a stand as you shoot. This is a great way for newcomers to learn the basics before moving to ISSF, but also for those that might not be able to support the weight of the rifle.
Air Supported (Sitting)
The same as air supported but with the shooter sitting down on a chair. Better for those that are not able to stand for long periods but look out, this is highly competitive.
Prone (20m)
Prone is shot with rimfire rifles in 0.22. Shooters are lying down with a sling between the upper arm and the rifle to support the front of the rifle and uses peep sights.
Benchrest
Benchrest is shot with scoped 0.22LR bolt action rimfire rifles across 3 classes, as well as a specific class for Air rifle.

Junior Club
Specifically from ages 10 to 18, our junior club is for developing young shooters to become our next Olympic champions and is shot purely with air rifles.
Junior club
Our junior club focuses on developing young shooters anywhere from their first time shooting, right up to high level competitions. We have highly skilled and accredited coaches to provide training in all aspects of the sport, with attention to control, discipline and safety. Some of our juniors have progressed to state, federal and international competitions, including the Olympics and still compete at these levels as they have progressed into adulthood.
Shooting 10m air rifle is a great sport for young kids. It helps them develop skills like goal setting, concentration, forward planning and light competitiveness. Our training program allows them to progress at their own pace and encourages participation and skill development over raw results, all in a safe, controlled and supervised environment.
Benchrest Classes
Benchrest is split into 4 classes. This gives shooters the ability to enter with common rifles found in regular gun shops without the need for significant expense, but also allows for highly specialised, purpose built rifles to be used.
Classes 1, 2 and 3 use a 0.22LR bolt action rimfire rifle
Class 1 - 'Bunny gun' Generic, 'off the shelf' hunting rifles, mass produced and commonly available from gun shops (at any time). Shot with max 12 power scope and weighing up to 3.5kg. Rifles must remain mostly original other than trigger work.
Class 2 - 'Modified' Allows for modified versions of class 1 rifles. Stock can be fully custom, a bag rider can be added to the fore-end (up to 60mm wide). The contacting width of the rear rest must not exceed 30mm, custom triggers, unlimited scope power, up to 4.5kg
Class 3 - 'Open' Pretty much any rifle you can build with only a handful of limitations. Fore-end rest can go up to 3" wide (76.2mm), electronic triggers allowed and a weight of up to 8kg!
Air rifle benchrest uses a slightly higher powered version than the rifle used for ISSF 10m shown above.
Air Bench - This event is contested on the 20m range in the same bench configuration as the rimfire as shown above.
*These rules are a generalisation and are not exhaustive.
